Positive Mindful Outcomes for Secondary Students

The Next Generation of Positive Secondary Education

An inquiry-based approach directly engages students to make sense of their own mind, the choices they are making and ways to make the most of their lives. Workshops and classes include a combination of theory with hands-on practices.

Developing a sense of personal agency is key to Meditation Capsules workshops and classes.

Focusing on:

  • Growing a sense of self-efficacy and agency in life

  • Cultivating responsibility, reflection and compassion

  • Emotional literacy and behaviour management skills

  • Building a Growth Mindset

  • Living with creativity and optimism

  • Enhanced happiness and wellbeing

Body-based Mindfulness: posture, hydration, exercise, diet

A palette of practices from the ground upwards is shared with students, to discover ways to refine proprioception, retune the body and reset the brain! Focus on the senses, proprioception, breathing, hydration, exercise and diet is explored.

Understanding brain functioning

An introduction to the basic structures of the brain reveals the neurological conscious/unconscious processes that impact daily life. The remarkable ‘plastic’ properties of neurons are examined.

Fostering growth mindsets

Focus on present moment possibilities shift attention from a fixed, past- based concept of self to discover imaginative ways of thinking and processing in the now. Ways to recognize strengths, embrace mistakes and accept risks gives rise to creative opportunities and support life- long learning.

Refining personal perspectives

Ways to refresh and renew old, stale habits of mind and ‘ice-berg beliefs’ can be life-changing. Opportunities are shared to replace critical, judgemental attitudes with a fresh ‘viewing lens’ of curiosity and compassion in the present moment.

Handling stress and managing emotions

Identifying and understanding personal triggers, unconscious impulses and reactions enables awareness of personal mindful solutions.  Learning skills to return to feeling present, centred and capable build a strong sense of self.

Establishing focus and calming skills

Simple strategies to redirect, aim and sustain attention promote mind-mastery and engender self-efficacy and confidence.  Opportunities to enhance memory and develop visualisation skills stem from these practices.
