Creative mindfulness activities for children

With more than 20 years’ experience teaching mindfulness and meditation to children, Janet Etty-Leal brings a rare depth of classroom experience, professional training and creative practice to her work.

She is the author of Meditation Capsules and A Head-Heart Start for Life, and the creator of practical mindfulness programs used in schools across Australia and overseas.

Janet has trained educators, therapists, meditation teachers and school wellbeing teams, and her work has been studied by Masters and PhD candidates. She has also presented for Meditation Australia, at conferences and for universities, and served on the board of the Meditation Association of Australia.

Janet’s way with children, her love of and commitment to what she is teaching, and her creative way of communicating principles and practices without complicating them or making them lose their immediacy is both inspiring and instructive.
— Professor Craig Hassed (Centre for Consciousness and Contemplative Studies)

What makes Meditation Capsules different?

Meditation Capsules programs are designed for the whole child, bringing mindfulness to life through playful, creative and age-appropriate learning.

  • Mind, heart and hands-on practices that help children learn through experience.

  • Flexible practices that meet the needs of different students, ages and settings.

  • Stories, themes, metaphors and practices that make mindfulness meaningful.

  • A warm approach that helps children connect with themselves, others and the world around them.

  • Children are supported to build agency, self-awareness and confidence from within.

I’ve been teaching for 15 years and have attended many talks, conferences and workshops.  I cannot think of another session that was so accessible, relevant, inspiring and re-affirming about the positive changes that a teacher can bring about in her students.”
