Meet Janet Etty-Leal
Janet specialises in bringing Mindfulness to life: developing and delivering meaningful programs, instilled with thoughtful, creative pedagogy.
Her program is informed by neuroscientist and leading educational visionaries, including the work of Professor Martin Seligman, Alfie Kohn and Dr Norman Doige (The Brain that Changes Itself and The Brain’s Way of Healing)
The ‘Meditation Capsules’ program has been evaluated by Masters and PhD candidates in the Universities of W.A., S.A., and Monash and RMIT in Victoria.
Janet works with early learning centres as well as primary and secondary schools to build tailored mindfulness programs
Janet tailors her workshops specifically to her audience. Her workshops Incorporate age-appropirate, creative mindful strategies, supported by thought-provoking teaching aids and props. Janet’s Mindfulness workshops and classes foster her students capacity to become aware of their thoughts and feelings. These mindful skills can be directly equated to an increase in emotional intelligence; a strengthened focal capacity; a boost in active listening; an enhancement in personal resilience and an increase in insightful capacity, through which we build wise relationships with our self, others and the world
The Personal and Social Capability components of the revised Victorian Essential Learning Standard emphasise the need for students to manage emotions, feelings and moods. The ability to do so creates autonomy and success is enhanced at school, work and life. Mindful Meditation creates a framework for children to develop these skills
Janet’s courses are structured sequentially to develop the general tenets of self-awareness and culminate in specific practices to enhance subtle focus skills.

Self- knowledge is the key focus for sessions with secondary students. Connection to calm, conscious, present moment choices equip students to manage stress and enhance performance. These techniques benefit students both within the educational and social realms of their daily lives.
These can be tailored to suit large presentations or individual class sessions.

Professional Development for Teachers
Janet offers a range of courses that suit all levels of staff and provide the framework for applying what they experience during the presentation.
Sessions ranging from 90 minutes, to half day or full day presentations are designed to contribute to Professional Development Programs. All courses offer an introduction to understanding and applying Mindfulness, including basic physiology and neuroscience. Further content can be tailored to suit specific requirements.

- Ways to integrate Mindfulness into the curriculum and school life
Janet provides a range of coaching, mentoring and consulting services that cross practical training and therapeutic applications.
She works directly with children to explore creative ways to guide self-discovery and build a personal Mindful Tool Kit.
She also mentors teachers who wish to deliver Mindfulness programs to schools and children. Support is provided to develop personal practice, define goals, design content for classes and Workshops, and build confidence in delivering programs
