Calm choices for young minds with Covid challenges.

Mindfulness is a practice of remembering what really matters now.  When we experience challenges (like Covid) mindfulness choices matter.

Remember to ...

Pause: Tune in your ‘Awareness Dial’ Disconnect from the past (and sticky memories) and the future (and sticky fears and worries) and return awareness to the present.

Tune in: What is the best choice for your mind now?

Open your mind: discover new perspectives and connect to a bigger picture of life.

Remember lessons from history and how people navigated and overcame challenges.

Change your mind: ... and your ‘viewing frame’ to what is possible now?

What you can gain and grow?

New skills: on the computer and off the computer; writing, drawing, painting, collage, sculpting, music, puzzles, knitting, weaving, sewing, cooking and gardening.

Qualities and strengths: nurture your inner resources of kindness, compassion, patience, empathy, gratitude, humour, creativity ... ...

Awareness: what you can notice, sense, say, do to retune the body, reset the brain and feel energetic and joyful : exercise, stretch, yoga ... and soothing choices: soaking your feet, self-massage, massage someone at home, listen to soothing music and meditate!

Expand your awareness:

Nature: be curious to see the tiny details in plants, insects and fleeting birds: and the big vistas and vastness of the sky: at dawn, noon, dusk, and night – discover magical patterns in clouds, stars and the moon.

Remember what you can give: to others near you and far away with your words or what you can make and create: send via text, email or letter ... and remember what you can give back to nature.
